Updated information on the Coronavirus in Northeast Wisconsin

Rep. Gallagher: We Will Get Through This

"Hey Northeast Wisconsin, it's Mike Gallagher.

"There's no doubt that it has been a tough year for our community, for our state, and for our country. We’ve all had to make enormous sacrifices, and let’s be honest, none of us really enjoyed them, particularly those who have dealt with the disease personally or had a loved one get sick or pass away. But even in the smaller things in our day to day lives, like not being able to go to the movies or having our kids stuck at home and not going to school. Not being able to attend some of our favorite Wisconsin events like breakfast at the farm and county fairs. And most importantly, not being able to cheer on the Packers at Lambeau Field. Needless to say things aren’t easy right now, but that doesn’t mean we won’t get through this.

"In fact, I have no doubt our community will pull together -- like we always have -- to defeat this disease. But to do so sooner rather than later, we can’t take our eye off the ball. We all have to step up, we have to remain vigilant, we have to exercise caution in order to ensure our hospitals and our front line workers are not overwhelmed and our community stays open. Until we have a vaccine, we all have a part to play in keeping Northeast Wisconsin healthy. And that requires us to get back to the basics: practicing good personal hygiene like washing our hands, limiting our exposure to large groups, maintaining social distance, and, wearing a mask when you're indoors to protect not only ourselves, but those around us as well.

"That’s why I’m revamping this Coronavirus webpage, to ensure you have all the up to date information on the virus and ways we can keep our community safe. I hope you find this helpful, and if you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to call my office to let us know.

"We're six months into the Coronavirus, and I know it’s easy to get complacent. We all want to go back to life as normal. We're all exhausted. And like I said, I know 2020 has really been the worst. But we’re going to get through it, and we’re going to get through it together. And if we all do our part to slow the spread, we can get back to safely doing all the things we enjoy most, whether it's watching the Packers play or worshiping together or making sure our kids are going to school in person. Thank you."
